FCCLA & Student Council Hunger Banquet Nov. 2013
Natasha and Tony held a hunger banquet and presentation to educate students about childhood hunger. Natasha did most of the presentation, while Tony filmed and edited the activity. For the hunger banquet we had a Mexican dinner with the students separated into low, middle, or high class groups. They received food based on which economic class they had been put into. This banquet was done to let students feel and see firsthand the struggles that millions of American children face each day.
Foods I, Foods ii, and Catering Presentation January 2014
Natasha and Tony presented the No Kid Hungry Campaign to Elizabeth High School's FACS classes including: three Foods I classes, and one Catering class. These classes baked for our Bake Sale in March, so we wanted to get the students involved! Through a variety of activities we were able to show the students a slice of hunger, inspiring the students to help FCCLA through it's campaign to end childhood hunger.
Hunger Quiz
To begin our presentation Natasha and Tony handed out a Hunger Quiz the week before we would be coming into classes to see the students knowledge of the hunger issue to decide what we needed to focus our presentation on. The results were very interesting and surprised us. See the graphs below to see the outcome.

No Kid Hungry PRESENTATION Activity
For the activity portion of our presentation, we separated the class into groups of 3 or 4 people. Each person within the group was given $1.50 per meal to spend. Which is approximately the amount families receive from SNAP (food stamps). The goal was to go through grocery store ads and find the healthiest meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the group with the amount of money they had. Below is an example of what one of the groups came up with.
